Motif Monday--Personal Theme Song

this weekend was pretty interesting...I shall not go into too much detail but it boiled down to eating a lot of chili, lots of trips to Home Depot, smelling fresh paint, cleaning up hairballs and my mother-in-law getting really drunk and telling me family secrets I did not need to know. Oh and watching the Saturday Night Live season premiere, which was pretty damn funny.

Ms. Mrtl has given us an assignment to discover and name our own personal theme song. I tried the old-fashioned way to get the song, by going to take a test.

The computer asked me if I liked birds. What the hell does this have to do with my theme song? And I cannot imagine existing and NOT liking birds. That would be a tough way to go as BIRDS are friggin' everywhere. It is like asking if I like dirt. WTF?

Anyway. The answer it gave me is actually a song I like, "Groove is in the Heart" by Dee-Lite. It was unfortunately overplayed to death and still is on some 80s stations, but overall has a great beat and I can dance to it. I do not however, feel it is my personal THEME song. "I couldn't ask for another"...another what? No, that can't be my theme if I don't even really get it.

So I am going to choose another theme song for myself. Here goes.

I don't think my theme song should be a song that is just my favorite song, but it should be more of a song that has lyrics that describe more or less my attitude about things. However, it should be a song that I would play over and over again. With that in mind, I think the Simple Minds song "Don't you Forget about me" should be my theme song. And honestly I do not know how I came up with that decision. But I'm going with it.

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down

Hey, hey, hey, heyOhhhh.....

Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away

Maybe it has something to do with relating to the kids on the "Breakfast Club" movie as this is the theme song. I don't know. I can't figure it all out today.

Not too bad. It's got rain and sadness, so that's good. But a true theme song needs a pickup truck, a gun rack, a bar, Momma, prison, railroads and cigarettes.

Like: "Momma in her pickup with the gun rack got run over at the crossing by a train in the rain as she went to buy cigarettes at the bar for her boy in the prison." I have the words; I'm just looking for somebody who can write music.

Ok-I did mine and it's Walking on Sunshine. I could't have picked a song more unlike me.
