Top 5 Favorite Candy Bars of Mine*
* This is in tribute to the fact that I have had absolutely no chocolate since being preggers. Not by choice mind you, the thought of it just makes me hurl. By the way, the toilet and I have gotten so close, we shall announce our engagement soon.
5. Mr. Goodbar
4. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (not really a bar, per se, but)
3. Butterfinger
2. Twix with peanut butter
and my number #1 favorite candy bar:
1. Take Five Oh my gosh the goodness of this candy bar! Why did someone not think of these sooner?
Speaking of candy bars, there was a hotel near my house when I was little that allowed the neighbor kids swim in their pool for a nominal fee. This is the same place where some stupid teenager stepped on my head while I was underwater. Anyway, they had a snack stand and I would always get this candy called Oompa Loompas. They were somewhat of a precursor to Reese's Pieces, but bigger and much better. I so did not make this up. Does anyone remember these besides me? Yes! I was not imagining them!!
Anyway. My favorite candy memory is going to the wholesale candy store down the street from our house and the gigantic boxes of that sugary sweet Rope Gum. That stuff rocked. Man do I miss that store. But do you know I never got a cavity until I was 25? Mmmm. Candy.
Anyone else have good candy memories??
all my fault.

Oh man... and here I was, being all good, not having any chocolate today.
Thanks for saving me, Jana!
Seriously, though, I feel for you darlin. I hope you'll be able to have your favorite candy bars again soon...
Just came upon your blog and you are one funny gal- even when you're feeling like crap you're still funny-very impressive! As for candy stories I have many, as penny candy is my favourite treat! I also didn't have a cavity until I was in my 20s--which, now that I think about it, was when I started eating candy like a maniac.
Okay- a funny candy story. I was in university and went with my friend to a new candy store near our house called "House of Candy"--sounds great, except it was really sketchy, and there was an ex-con lookin' guy who ran the store (can anyone say drug front?) Anyway- we basically all but saw a drug deal, where another 300 pound tattoo-laden dude came in to talk to the ex-con owner and 'deliver' something...from then on we always called it"House of Nose Candy"
When I was a kid, my grandmother would give me a dollar and I would go to the drug store and get 4 candy bars with that. I always chose a Peppermint Patty, Almond Joy, Peanut M&M's, and 3 Muskateers. Then I'd cheat my brother out of his Kit Kat and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Of course, that happened rarely- my grandmother was not so free with her dollars!
CK: Well, I'm not a huge candy bar eater, if I'm going to go for sweets I'd prefer brownies, but the fact that chocolate right now is as gross to me as coconut, that there just ain't right, ya know?
Karen: Thanks! My blogging really has fallen by the wayside due to all this throwing up!! "House of Candy"...that's not too great of a cover up! I'm sure it didn't take long for the cops to get that one!
JBO: Crazy to think you could get 4 bars with a dollar once upon a time ya know! My daughter loves Almond Joys, which makes me wonder how I could have had such a child, loving coconut the way she does!
Oh the memories I have of going to the store for penny candy shine brighter than almost all my other childhood memories.
I loved those blue fish candies. and a million others too.
Ooooo... you said BROWNIES....
One of my favorite non-chocolate treats is a prailines and cream ice cream with butterscotch topping. VERY yummy!
LOVING your list (*as I mow down an entire row of Girl Scout cookies) but I'm also a fan of Zero Bars and Milky Way Midnights.
And why in the hell can I NOT buy a Cadbury Egg anytime I want? WTF is up with that?!?! I ran around town just 1 DAY after Easter hoping to buy a supply to get me through until next Easter and everyone was out already!! UGH!! Hateful Cadbury people.
I love chocolate, too! Too bad you get yucky thinking about it. My preggers thing was "white meat" - yuck! I remember and still love Whatchamacallits (spelling my not be right).
